The 5x4 Hayes Lane Project is a unique, inner-city dwelling set on a tiny footprint - 5x4 meters! The build is designed, built and powered with both passive and active eco-driven processes, materials and performance considerations.

The 5x4 Hayes Lane Project encourages discussion around sustainable living, a healthy form of densification in the City of Melbourne and demonstrates how to achieve it through best practice design and living.

It uses the One Planet Living® principles and their adaptation around behaviour as a guide for the physical design to reduce urban ecological footprint. It also acts as a platform to disseminate learnings and demonstrates the progress in sustainable living.
